Family owned. Toronto based. Independently built. Those six words describe Famous Factory Inc. more honestly than any pitch deck could. This company is owned by Kemeion Coutain and Jo Anne Santos, it operates from Toronto, and everything under its roof was built by the house itself. Here is what that structure means in practice.

Family owned means the owners do the work

There is no distance between ownership and operation at Famous Factory. The people who own the company write, publish, build, sell, and answer for the results. When a decision is made here, it is made by someone whose name is on the brands and whose family depends on the outcome. That changes the quality of every decision. Shortcuts are not tempting when your own name is the brand.

It also changes the time horizon. A family company does not build for a quarterly exit. It builds a catalogue, an archive, and a set of brands that can be handed down. The Growing Wings books, the iimiTV archive, and the OMYGOTTI catalogue are not inventory. They are the family's body of work.

Toronto based means Toronto accountable

Toronto is not a market we target from somewhere else. It is home. The city raised the founders, the culture here shaped the music and the media, and the business community here is the one we answer to. iimiTV has covered Canadian entertainment and hip hop from Toronto since 2009, and Card Crave ships to collectors from here. Being based in Toronto is a fact about our address and a fact about our standards.

Independently built means we own our tools

Independent is a working method, not a slogan. We built our own content platform, CurateKing, instead of renting one. We run our own backend systems for the company's records and taxes. We publish on our own domains, famousfactory.ca, omygotti.com, and iimitv.com, so the audience relationship and the archive live on property the house owns.

That independence costs more effort at the start and pays back every year after. There is no landlord for our catalogue, no outside investor setting the direction, and no parent corporation deciding which brand lives or dies. The house decides, and the house does the work.

One roof, many lanes

A holding company lets each brand stay in its own lane while the family carries the business behind all of them. Music, media, books, cards, and software each get the focus they need, and the house gets stronger with every brand that grows. That is the structure we chose, and this page will document what we build with it.

It also sets the terms for anyone who works with us. Partners deal with the owners. Clients deal with the people who built the tools. Readers and customers deal with a company that has a home address in one city and a family name behind it. That is rarer than it should be in media, and we treat it as an advantage worth protecting. That accountability is part of the product, whichever part of the house you are dealing with, and whichever city you are reading from.
